This page is about a book called "The Story of the Vanguard," published in 1949 by the Standard Motor Company. A copy of this book was given to me by a Standard Vanguard salesman in my home town of Swindon, Wiltshire (UK) around that time.
I was 12 years old and had called at the showroom to ask if I could sit in a Vanguard. As I was rather a scruffy lad, he obviously thought I was up to no good, so I had to spend some time convincing him that I only wanted to sit in a Vanguard!
Eventually he believed me and I had a grand time looking over my favourite car. Just as I was leaving he said, "Wait a minute!" and disappeared into his office at the back of the showroom. A couple of minutes later he reappeared and gave me the book, the pages of which are reproduced here as a series of image files.
Although some of the file sizes are rather large, they are as small as possible consistent with legibility. Click on the appropriate text to view the pages indicated.
